on behalf of victims of organised violence and torture, conducts research and
advocacy on transitional justice, peace building and conflict transformation trainings
and carries out lobby and advocacy activities locally, regionally and internationally.
The Forum has a deep-rooted conviction in the inherent dignity, the equality and
inalienable rights of all human beings as the foundation of freedom, justice and
peace. As a result, the Forum continues to demonstrate its strong belief in social
responsibility and consciousness in defending the rights, dignity and equality of all.
LEGAL STATUS, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Forum exists as a common law universitas, governed by the
board of directors in terms of the Constitution of the Forum.

BOARD AND MANAGEMENT
The Executive Director of each of the twenty-two member organisations serve on the
Board of the Forum with operational activities overseen by a Management
Committee consisting of the Chair, Vice Chair and three elected committee
members. The Executive Director is an ex-officio member of the Board and the
Management Committee.
