other studies done in the country (Zimstat, 2009). The mathematical formula is appropriate because the population of Zimbabwe over years has shown to continuously increase and following closely a geometric pattern (Mandishona, 1987). For this particular exercise, the geometric formula allowed ZESN to conduct a ward-by-ward projection of the Zimbabwean voting population for 2018. The 2012 population census data was used as the base population to project the 2017 and 2018 voting population. Thus, the 2018 projections were calculated using the following geometric formula:  R = Pt*(1+r)^n  Pt = base population (last census)  R = is the growth rate  N = number of years after the base year The projections in this paper are presented in tables according to district and gender. The accompanying excel document provides additional ward and age based categorization of the same populations in all the districts. Census and Survey Processing System (CSPro), a statistical data processing software package, was used for the production of the tables in the current report (see consolidated data in the excel document). 2018 Population Projections by Ward and Gender The tables in this section contain ward based population projections for Zimbabwean citizens who will be 18 years and above in 2018 and therefore eligible to vote. Generally, populations for all the districts and wards across Zimbabwe are projected to have increased considerably in 2018. © Zimbabwe Election Support Network 2017 4
