CIT Classification Citizen Applicable qualifications (l) A person who– (a) is not an African; and (b) is a citizen by birth, descent or registration. (2)An indigenous African who was born in Rhodesia. (3) An African– (a) who was born outside Rhodesia; and (b) whose father, or in the case of an illegitimate person, mother, was an indigenous African; and (c) whose birth was registered in terms of section 15 of the Births and Deaths Registration Act [Chapter 30] or the corresponding provision of any earlier enactment as an external birth. 2. CN Non-Indigenous African Citizen (l) An African(a) who was born in Rhodesia prior to the l2th January, 1973; and (b) whose father, or in the case of an illegitimate person, mother, was not an indigenous African; and (c) whose birth was registered in terms of the Births and Deaths Registration Act [Chapter 30] or any earlier enactment relating to the registration of births and deaths in Rhodesia; and (d) who was issued with a birth certificate by the State. -7-
