ZIMBABWE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION (ZHRC) SIGNS MOUs WITH FOUR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS; LRF, NGO FORUM, ZIMRIGHTS AND ZADHR ON 11 March 2016 On Friday 11 March 2016, the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with four Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) namely Legal Resources Foundation (LRF), Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights), Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights (ZADHR). The MOUs formalized partnerships and collaboration mechanisms to do with referral of cases and human rights promotion including targeted outreach work with the intention of raising public awareness of the Constitutional mandate of the Commission, enhancing visibility of ZHRC, raising awareness of human rights and fundamental freedoms enshrined in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and International Treaties and Agreements which Zimbabwe is party to. In his opening remarks preceding the MOUs signing ceremony, the ZHRC Chairperson Commissioner E.H. Mugwadi reiterated the undeniable need for cooperation between National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in compliance with the Paris Principles.
