In ward 10 at Entumbane Hall there was serious conflict as elderly residents complained
about unfair distribution of food from the social welfare department alleging that only Zanu PF
members were benefitting. There were claims that Zanu PF members are always at the top of
the list so they are assured of getting maize.

Right to Food
Pumula residents queued for more than five hours to no avail after most of them were denied
food aid and it was given to those wearing Zanu PF regalia. Most of the elderly who were
expectant were disappointed after a few were hand picked and given food and the rest were
told to wait for the next distribution whose date remained unknown.

Right to Food
Zanu PF Zungwane ka Ndaba District Chairperson, Henrietta Dube, compiled a list of
residents aged 65 years and above to receive maize from the government scheme. People
felt a neutral person should have done this. On the day of the distribution, some elderly
residents whose children are known to support MDC-T were not on the list and it made
people suspicious of the selection process.
