III. Methodology This report is based on a research mission to Zimbabwe in February 2010. Human Rights Watch researchers visited the capital, Harare, to investigate and document the status of freedom of expression under the power-sharing government in the year since the political agreement. Human Rights Watch interviewed more than 60 people, including local journalists, newspaper editors, media lawyers and analysts, human rights activists, legislators, and two government ministers responsible for media reform. Interviews were also conducted with representatives of the Media Monitoring Project Zimbabwe, Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe, Media Institute of Southern AfricaZimbabwe Chapter, the Law Society of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, and the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum. Human Rights Watch conducted all interviews oneon-one. For security reasons, many people spoke to Human Rights Watch on the condition that their names or other identifying information not be mentioned in this report.
