A man shows the injuries he sustained following severe beating by soldiers Amnesty International has also seen and verified the authenticity of over a dozen pictures and footage of victims who reported that they were tortured. In one instance, on 15 January in Mabvuku, a group of about six men entered a house and said they were looking for two men. They found two women sleeping and they started beating them with batons as they asked them to tell them where their husbands were. One of them sustained broken legs. On 21 January, a 25-year-old male was severely assaulted by soldiers using a sjambok in Kuwadzana. He sustained trim line bruises and lacerations consistent with sjamboks. On 21 January a group of five men in military uniforms severely beat up a Lecturer after they saw him walking from the office of an MDC MP in Chinhoyi.51 They wanted to know what he was planning to do with this MDC MP and when he didn’t give them the answer they wanted they used iron bars and batons to beat him up. He sustained haematomas as a result of severe beating. Medical personnel confirmed that the injuries showed his muscle was torn and bleeding inside. On 28 January, doctors cut off his buttocks to save him. Man beaten up in Chinhoyi and accused of being MDC and causing problems.
