"technical stall" means all persons employed by the lini1crsity who are
categorised in terms of the Statutes as members of the technical stall:
"University" or '·PAMlJST"' means the Pan-African Minerals University of
Science and Technolog)' constituted in terms of this Act:
"Vice-Chancellor·· means the person holding the office of Vice-Chancellor in
terms of section 10:
"workers" means all persons employed by the University\\ ho are categorised
in terms of the Statutes as workers.

Establishment of University
(1) There is hereby established a State University to be known as the PanAfrican Minerals University of Science and Technology (PAMUST).
(2) The University is established as a Nelson Mandela Institute or Excellence
(NMI) dedicated to the teaching and training or very high calibre mineral professionals
in mineral beneficiation and value addition for the African continent.
(3) The University shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and
shall be capable of suing and being sued in its corporate name and, subject to this Act,
performing all acts that bodies corporate may by law perform.

Objects of University
The objects of the U ni versi ty are-

(a)
the provision of highly advanced post-graduate courses and research in
mineral value addition and beneficiation and related minerals studies; and
(b)
the promotion of technological innovation and knowledge-based
development in mineral science; and
(c)
the advancement and transmission of knowledge and intellectual enquiry
with a special bias towards the diffusion and extension or mineral science;
and
(d)
the advancement of knowledge through teaching, research and learning:
and
(e)
the inculcation of excellence in academic research and community service:
and
(f)
the promotion of the moral husi ness acumen, entrcpreneurshi p and
technoprcncurshi p of students in the University.
