NOTE FOR ASSISTANCE OF THE READER Amendments to Act since publication of Revised Edition (1996) This document, reflecting the position as at the 1st August, 2007, includes amendments made by⎯ • the Criminal Penalties Amendment Act, 2001 (No. 22 of 2001) with effect from the 20th May, 2002, and • section 29 of the General Laws Amendment (No. 2) Act. 2002 (No. 14 of 2002) with effect from the 24th January, 2003 • Part IV of the Financial Laws Amendment Act, 2004 (No. 16 of 2004), the amendment being backdated to the 30th January, 2004 (making permanent the temporary amendment effected by section 9 of the Presidential Powers (Temporary Measures) (Financial Laws Amendment) Regulations, 2004, published in Statutory Instrument 14 of 2004, with effect from the 30th January, 2004). • section 29 of the General Laws Amendment Act, 2005 (No. 6 of 2005 with effect from the 3rd February, 2006. New section 9 ("Use of information for private gain") inserted. Act 14/2002 New paragraph (h) inserted in section 2(2) (deemed to have come into operation on the 5th July, 1996). The 5th July, 1996, was the date of publication and commencement of the Exchange Control Regulations, 1996 (Statutory Instrument 109/1996) and the Exchange Control (General) Order, 1996 (Statutory Instrument 110/1996). Act 16/2004 (and S.I. 14/2004) Insertion of new section 10 dealing with Recovered Foreign Currency Fund. Act 6/2005 Amendment of proviso to section 6 by insertion of reference to paragraph (a1) of the same section (a correction of a drafting omission that occurred when paragraph (a1) was inserted by Act 22/2001). -7-
