NAME
1.1 The name of the National Labour Centre shall be the “Zimbabwe CONGRESS OF TRADE
UNIONS”. (hereinafter referred to as “THE CONGRESS”)

DEFINITIONS
“Administrative Officers of the Congress”
Are employees of the Congress who are delegated special functions by the General Council.
“Affiliate”
Means a trade union that has been admitted by ZCTU as a member in terms of the ZCTU Constitution.
“Associate Member”
Means representative of an organization of people other than a trade union or employers‟ organisation
which identifies with the aims and objectives of the labour movement.
“Ballot”
Means a secret vote.
“Bi- Annual Consultative Conference”
Means a conference held in terms of section 15 of this constitution.
“Congress”
Means the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions as a National Labour Centre.
“Extra Ordinary Conference”
Means a conference held in terms of section 14 of this constitution.
“Full Member”
Refers to an affiliate that abides by the ZCTU Constitution, policies, standing rules and other resolutions.
“General Council”
Means the highest organ and authority of the Congress.
“Membership”
Where it relates to the Congress, means affiliated union. Wherever it relates to trade unions means
members of that union.
“Officers of the Congress”
Refers to elected persons, elected by the Congress, as referred to in Clause 11.
“Presiding officer”
Means a person appointed by the General Council to supervise a ballot in the General Council or any
conference.
