Rights of minority groups Minority groups have a right to participate in decision–making processes at all levels of State organs. 44. Combatants in the liberation struggle All persons who took part in the liberation struggle, including ex-detainees, chibwidos and mujibas, are entitled to respect and recognition and to reasonable social benefits. 45. Right of fair hearing In the determination of civil rights and obligations or any criminal charge, a person is entitled to a fair, speedy and public hearing before an independent and impartial court or tribunal established by law. 31
