HUMAN RIGHTS PUBLICATIONS
The Forum carries out extensive research on key thematic human rights issues,
documents and publishes human rights violations, produces tools for human rights
education and advocacy and empowers citizens with knowledge. Over the past two
decades, over 240 reports have been published. Additionally, over 160 human rights
bulletins have been published on various human rights themes with an average
circulation of 5 000 copies every month and 6 000 downloads from the Forum
website.
In 2017, the Forum partnered with Zimbabwe Citizen Initiative (ZCI) to create
Ziso/Ililho, a digital tool that allows ordinary citizen to document and report human
rights violation in real time via text messages, WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter. The
Forum’s advocacy initiatives have reached beyond the borders, influencing policy up
to United Nations level through the Universal Periodic Review.
REPORTS
The Forum produced the
following reports:
a. Transitional Justice in pretransitional times: Are there
any lessons for Zimbabwe
The report sought to answer the
question “What transitional
justice processes and
mechanisms are possible in a
State where gross human rights
violations continue to be
perpetrated with no genuine
political transformation and
where the state is predatory,
authoritarian and violent”.
However, there does not seem to
be a single transitional justice
mechanism that could have been
possibly applied pre-transition
that has not been applied. The
report was launched on 23
March, 2017 at SAPES Trust
where a public dialogue to
interrogate transitional justice in
Zimbabwe was conducted.
