Conclusion The continued violation of human rights is partly exacerbated by the government’s disregard of constitutionalism and the rule of law reflected in the lack of progress in the alignment of domestic laws with the Constitution. According to VERITAS, “some 74 existing Acts of Parliament remain unaligned with the Constitution and many new laws, which the Constitution says must be enacted, have not appeared on the statute book.”3 The government must therefore urgently prioritize the alignment of laws.
