PART II
RESTATEMENT OF RIGHTS AND CONCEPTS RELATING TO THE CHILD
AND ATTENDANT POLICY INITIATIVES, MEASURES AND
INTERVENTIONS
(This Part and the following Parts have been drafted in a manner to assist
Member States to draft similar provisions with minimum amendments. The
rights outlined in this Part are a restatement of certain rights of the child as
specified in the ACRWC and CRC and inserted in this Model Law as a basis for
the eradication of child marriage and protection of a child already in
marriage. The style of drafting is generalized as to the rights of the child
mainly from the CRC and ACWRC with specific reference or relativity to the
issue of child marriage and children already in marriages. The Draftsperson
should use the content to develop specific provisions on the subject related
issues as conforms with the style and language of legislation in each
jurisdiction.
The
offence
and
penalty
clauses
are
inserted
to
remind
Governments/draftspersons that they must provide for prohibitions, offences
and penalties and are put in strategic sections as indicators).
