National Registration Regulations, 1977, as amended (4) When notification is given or application is made in terms of this section, the existing identity document shall be surrendered to the Registrar-General or registration officer, as the case may be, for the issue of a replacement identity document. Authorized persons 11.(1) The following persons prescribed to be authorized persons for the purposes of subsection (3) of section 8 of the Act– (a) the Secretary for Labour and social welfare; (b) the Attorney-General; (c) the Director of Security Manpower; (d) the Chief Immigration Officer; (e) all provincial commissioners and district commissioners; (f) police officers of or above the rank of inspector and members in charge of police stations; g) officers of the Army who are of or above the rank of major; (h) officers of the Air Force who are of or above the rank of squadron leader. (2) The following persons are prescribed to be authorized persons for the purposes paragraph (d) of subsection (l) of section 10 of the Act– of (a) the Registrar-General or other persons who are employed in carrying out the provisions of this Act; (b) district commissioners, assistant district commissioners and district officers; (c) police officers; (d) members of the Defence Forces of Rhodesia whilst on duty; (e) customs officers whilst on duty; (f) immigration officers whilst on duty; (g) such classes of employees of a local authority or statutory body as are appointed by the Registrar-General for the purpose of this subsection, whilst on duty. (h) district assistants employed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs; 3 (i) inspectors appointed in terms of regulations made under the Foreign Migratory Labour Act [Chapter 245].4 Exemptions from carrying identity documents 12.
