Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23] ["Criminal Law Code"] [as amended at 1st March 2007] Note on amendments to and commencement of this Act • The First Schedule (Standard Scale of Fines) to the Act was replaced by s. 11(1) of the General Laws Amendment Act, 2005 (No. 6 of 2005) with effect from 3rd February, 2006. • The provisions of this Act relating to the Standard Scale of Fines came into operation on 3rd February, 2006, by virtue of s. 11(2) of the General Laws Amendment Act, 2005 (No. 6 of 2005). Those provisions are the definitions of "level" and "standard scale" in s. 2, s. 280 and the First Schedule (the latter as replaced by s. 11(1) of Act No. 6 of 2005). • The remainder of the Act came into operation on 1st July, 2006, being the date fixed by the President in terms of s. 1(2) by Statutory Instrument 150/2006. • As of 1st March, 2007, the Act has been amended by • section 11 of the General Laws Amendment Act, 2005 (No. 6 of 2005) with effect from 3rd February, 2006, as explained above • section 31 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Amendment Act, 2006 (No. 9 of 2006), with effect from the 19th January, 2007 • the Criminal Law Code (Standard Scale of Fines) Notice, 2007, published in Statutory Instrument 30A/2007, with effect from the 7th February, 2007 [replacement of First Schedule – Standard Scale of Fines]
