TRAVEL GUIDE TO ZIMBABWE
General information on Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe, officially the Republic of Zimbabwe is a landlocked country
located in Southern Africa between the Limpopo and Zambezi Rivers. It
borders South Africa to the south, Mozambique to the east, Botswana
to the west and Zambia to the north.
The capital city, Harare, lies in the Highveld region of the country.
Harare enjoys warm weather. It will be summer during the ICASA
2015 and the temperatures fluctuate around 30 degrees Celsius, with
occasional heavy rains.
Travelling to Zimbabwe
• If you are on prescription drugs, you
should carry your prescription with you at
all times.
• It is not a requirement for you to disclose
your sexual orientation or gender identity
or any other status to an immigration
official, therefore you should remain silent.
An immigration official has the power
to deport anyone based on their sexual
orientation.
You are advised that the following
goods are prohibited into Zimbabwe
• Pornographic materials
• Ensure you have a valid passport and valid visa (for the purposes
of your travel) for the duration of your stay. For more info on visa

• You are advised to carry your passport at all times during your stay
in Zimbabwe. You may be asked to produce it.
• K now your embassy details, as they are very useful when you face

• At the port of entry, whether its by air or road, you are advised to at
least present yourself as you appear on your passport.
• If you are trans, please note that while internal discussions with
the state authorities are underway to sensitize them, expect to be
detained and questioned at the port of entry for an average of an
hour. There have been cases in the past where people have been
asked to “flush” for either a male or female official to prove their
gender. Please remain calm and to the best of your ability (without
of course losing your dignity) to cooperate with the immigration
officials.
• Have your hotel reservation, travel insurance, yellow fever
vaccination card (for those who have visited affected areas) and
flight itinerary documents as you may be requested to produce
them at the port of entry.
• D o not keep confidential information or pornographic material
on your computer or any electronic device. Always back up your
information somewhere and keep your devices clean.
